It goes without saying that 2020 was a tough year! During the pandemic shutdown, all fabric companies were closed, and when they reopened, production was much lower, and selection was pretty boring (if you could find anything at all). If you’ve followed us for very long, you know that we love fun, quirky, colorful prints, so this was a challenge for us in particular.
It’s been a dream of ours since we started the company to print our own custom fabric for dresses. However, it’s always been too expensive. That’s a challenge because we try really hard to keep our prices reasonable. It began to look like custom printing was the only way to get the type of prints we wanted, but the only cost-effective way was to have the fabric printed overseas. We also thought long and hard about having our items cut and sewn there. We are still committed to Made in USA and plan to continue offering items made here.
We are especially excited about being able to use printed knits (which have always been scarce) and use those to develop new products. We will continue with our signature CNM dresses, but we hear you when you say your daughters don’t always want to wear dresses. We look forward to offering other products. In addition, I am happy to say the change will be reflected in lower prices on imported items. All items will note whether they are Made in USA or imported in the item description.
I want everyone to know that I personally spent a lot of time vetting our overseas partners, and I will still be inspecting every piece. Our commitment to the highest quality is unchanged, and our warranty and return policies still apply to every piece, both Made in USA and imported. If you have any questions or concerns, I am available, as always, by email at chris@chrisnmissy.com.
